A Sobering Thought: Young men in prison. The report forms part of the Howard League for Penal Reform's Out for Good two-year research project which provides young men in prison with the unique opportunity to discuss their needs, aspirations and hopes as they pass through the prison system and on to release. Accoring to this report's findings more young men are in prison because of alcohol than drugs. (2004)
A Chance to break the cycle: women and the drug treatment and testing order. More than 2,500 drug dependent women each year experience prison. These women could be eligible for the drug treatment and testing order. Research by the Howard League has shown that the drug treatment and testing order has the potential, if properly targeted and resourced for drug treatment to break the cycle between drug use and offending.
