Dr Lizzie Seal

Lizzie Seal is Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Sussex University, having previously lectured at Durham University. Her broad research interests are gender and crime, cultural criminology and historical criminology. Lizzie has published work on gender representations of women who kill and the perceptions of femininity that circulate in the criminal justice system. With Maggie O’Neil, she has published a book on cultural representations of transgression. She has carried out research into public responses to the death penalty in England and Wales, and has expanded this work to assess the wider cultural place of capital punishment in Britain.
